Fees on paid newsletters
beehiiv takes 0% (you pay Stripe, 2.9% + $0.30 per card payment). Kit charges 3.5% + 30¢ per transaction, inclusive of processing. On a $8/month subscription that's about $0.53 per payment on beehiiv vs $0.58 on Kit (our arithmetic using the published rates).
Step by step
- Export from beehiiv. Settings → Export Data → "Export All Subscribers" (full CSV with custom fields) and "Export All Posts". Download links expire after 24 hours (beehiiv help).
- Create your Kit account and authenticate your sending domain.
- Import subscribers. In Kit: Subscribers → Add Subscribers → Other provider → Beehiiv, paste your beehiiv API key and start the import. Custom fields and tags come across, and a tag is created per beehiiv publication. CSV import also works (Kit help: migrating from beehiiv).
- Recreate forms, newsletter site and automations in Kit (on a paid plan you can request Kit's free migration service instead).
- Paid subscribers: Kit says there's no convenient way to move subscription periods and payment details. Its workaround: cancel paid subscriptions on beehiiv and invite paid readers to re-subscribe to your Kit paid newsletter — tell them in advance and plan for refunds.
- Test forms, automations and a test send of your paid newsletter before announcing the switch.
- Downgrade or cancel beehiiv before your renewal date.
Gotchas
- Only import subscribers who opted in; leave unsubscribed and bounced contacts behind.
- Importing into a tag can trigger Kit automations attached to that tag — pause them first.
- Kit's limited-time Pro promo (25% off the first year, seen 2026-10-20) renews at the standard price.

Can I move paid subscribers from beehiiv to Kit?
Not automatically. Kit's help center says there is currently no convenient way to migrate paid subscription periods and payment details; its suggested workaround is to cancel paid subscriptions in beehiiv and ask paid subscribers to re-subscribe in Kit, after warning them in advance.
Is Kit free?
Kit's Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers but does not include visual automations or email sequences, and Kit branding stays on.
Does Kit help with migration?
Kit offers a free migration service for creators on its paid plans, and has a dedicated beehiiv importer that uses your beehiiv API key.
