Paid subscriptions: Not verified: Shopify Email has no paid newsletter subscription feature on its pricing or help pages (Shopify stores can sell subscription products through apps, which we don't model), so the calculator leaves it out when you need paid subscriptions.
How Shopify Email pricing works
Shopify Email (now part of the Shopify Messaging app) is billed per email sent, on top of your Shopify store plan. Every store on a paid plan gets 10,000 free emails a month (automations count, abandoned-checkout emails are free); then it's $1 per 1,000 emails up to 300,000, $0.65 per 1,000 after that and $0.55 per 1,000 after 750,000. You can't send to subscribers without an active paid Shopify plan, so our totals include the cheapest one, Basic ($39/month, or $29/month paid yearly). Already paying for Shopify? Your extra cost is just the email usage: free up to 10,000 emails, e.g. about $10 a month at 5,000 subscribers emailed weekly. We convert email volume to subscribers at 4 sends per subscriber a month, rounded up to each row's subscriber count. SMS is charged separately.
Sending more than 4 emails per subscriber a month? Multiply your list by your monthly sends and pick the tier with at least that many emails in the tables below.
Basic plan + email usage
Includes the Shopify Basic store plan (online store on your own domain, checkout) plus pay-per-email sending: 10,000 free emails a month, then $1 per 1,000. Marketing automations (welcome, abandoned cart and more) included; abandoned-checkout emails are free. Shopify branding in marketing-email footers: not covered by the pricing or template help pages, not verified.
