AWeber Free costs $0 for up to 500 subscribers with 3,000 sends a month ("about 100 messages per day"), 1 list, 1 workflow automation and 1 landing page. AWeber branding stays. Unlike most free plans it can sell paid subscriptions through Stripe, for 1% per transaction plus Stripe's fees.
The limit people miss: 3,000 sends a month
The send cap bites before the subscriber cap. At 500 subscribers, 3,000 sends is 6 emails to your whole list per month (12 at 250). A weekly newsletter fits; twice a week, or weekly plus a welcome automation for every signup, doesn't. AWeber's docs say that once the monthly sends are used, you upgrade to Lite or Plus to resume sending.
What Free leaves out
From AWeber's own list of what you lose on Free: saving custom segments, advanced reporting, split testing for emails and sign-up forms, behavioral automation for broadcasts, more than one campaign or landing page, turning off confirmation messages for new subscribers, and removing AWeber branding from messages and landing pages. Whether Free can use your own domain isn't stated on AWeber's pages, so we list it as not verified.

So the step at 501 subscribers is $0 → $25/mo. Billing rules from AWeber's pricing FAQ: you move up a tier automatically when subscribers or sends exceed it; downgrades are not automatic (contact support; deleting subscribers alone doesn't lower the tier); a Hold Package for $4.99/month keeps your data while sending is paused.

Free plans compared
If you don't need to sell on day one, bigger free plans exist: Kit Free covers 10,000 subscribers (no visual automations), beehiiv Free and EmailOctopus Free cover 2,500. AWeber Free is a sensible start for a small list that wants one automation and the option to sell.

Yes. AWeber describes Free as lifetime access at no cost, for up to 500 subscribers.
How many emails can I send on AWeber Free?
3,000 sends a month, or about 100 a day. Once they're used you upgrade to keep sending.
What happens at 501 subscribers?
AWeber says growing beyond 500 subscribers prompts an upgrade. Lite costs $25/month ($250/year) up to 1,000 subscribers.
Can I remove AWeber branding on Free?
No. AWeber lists removing branding from messages and landing pages among the features you lose on Free; branding removal comes with Plus.
Can I sell subscriptions on AWeber Free?
Yes, with AWeber's Ecommerce element and your Stripe account. AWeber takes 1% per transaction plus Stripe's fees.
